The Mire
Their reputation across the galaxy suggests the Mire are a fierce and powerful alien race. They wear large, imposing armour with built-in energy weapons mounted on their wrists.
They hunt down other warrior races, turning their strongest warriors into liquid, which they then drink as their 'nectar', feeding on their adrenaline and testosterone. In reality the Mire choose weak opponents deliberately so they can easily defeat them and thus cultivate their fearsome reputation.
The Mire and their leader ‘Odin’ were outsmarted by the Doctor, Clara and Ashildr in a 9th century Viking village; their embarrassing defeat recorded by Clara on her phone. With the threat of this footage being broadcast across the galaxy, they submitted and fled, promising one day to exact revenge...
